Tips for Using the Comments Feature

Submission Tips

To increase a client’s engagement with your submissions utilize the comments feature in your account. Offering relevant information about your song by briefly explaining how it relates to their needs will help to build a stronger connection between your song and the client’s music requirements.

This tip applies specifically to songs with lyrics. For example, try to provide a short synopsis that covers the subject matter of your submission, helping the supervisor or producer understand the context and thought behind it. This can be especially valuable for TV and Film opportunities where there is generally a wider and more complex scope of moods, emotions and lyric content that is being considered by the licensing client.

We wanted to share this tip with you because of the feedback we have received from our clients who have found the comments helpful when reviewing. If you have any questions about the comments feature in your account please contact us at support@hitlicense.com

This is a good thing to know. I for one usually don’t put much in the comments section because I don’t want to appear pretentious. Being able to provide a short synopsis is probably a good thing to get into the habit of. Thank You for the Info/Tip.

This is something I have overlooked.
Is it possible to add comments after submitting ?
I have some songs currently shortlisted.

Thanks! Knowing this changes how I will use that section. Occasionally I would make notes, but I wasn’t sure how useful or used they were or even if they were irritating in some way.

    🙂

What about instrumentals ? I left one a few months ago, though seems hard to relate current music with the placement.

    Hi,

You mentioned one is able to add comments or set cues after submitting. Could you tell me where to find that section, cause I only see the lyric section I can edit after submitting a song.

    Thanks,

    Nash

      Hi Nash,

To add a comment or set a cue after submitting, please login to your account and click on the “My Opportunities” tab on the left menu bar. Find the opportunity that you want to add a comment or cue to, click on it and you will see a “Comments and Cues” tab inside the opportunity. From there you are able to set a cue or add your comment. Please let us know at support@hitlicense.com if we can help you further.
